Budget vs High End | Eyeliner

budget eyeliner collection felt tip extreme 24 hour eyeliner cheap drugstore soap and glory dupe supercat

It's that time of the month again (no, not that time) where Grace and I collaborate on another Budget Vs High End episode! Today we'll be discussing liquid eyeliners, with myself focusing on budget once again, and Grace talking about high end. Make sure you read Grace's post here!

Eyeliner is one of those products that I struggle with - I always have, and I probably always will. Whilst it's gotten slightly more manageable in the last year, I still have trouble matching up my wings and adjusting the thickness of them! For as long as I can remember, I've been favouring felt tip liners. They're easy to use and always pigmented, and I love how I can use the nib to adjust how it applies. In 2016 I strayed from felt tips in favour of a standard liquid eyeliner by NYX which I really enjoy using, but recent months have seen me retreat back to the safety of my felt tip as I mess it up a lot less!

The product I've been using since my earliest makeup wearing days is the Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner by Collection. It costs a mere £2.99 from Boots and Superdrug, and is a spot-on dupe for Soap & Glory's Supercat eyeliner. I picked up S&G's version in 2015, but there really wasn't any point. Both are exactly the same in packaging with identical nibs, and the flow and pigmentation twin each other too. The only difference is that the Supercat eyeliner is more expensive at £5.

The Collection felt tip liner is so easy to use, and you never have to worry about the pigmentation failing or the product drying out. I have several of these and they are well past their expiry date (oops!) but they are still perfect and work without fail. They are really bold, and they're also fast drying so you don't need to worry too much about any smudging or transferring whilst it's wet. You do however, need to note that these aren't waterproof. Whilst they don't transfer on me, they will run and smudge if you turn on the waterworks! You never have to worry about this pen dragging on your skin, and it's also worth noting that the brush tip is sturdy but still flexible - for me, it's just right

If you're looking to add a pop of colour to your look, the Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner comes in three other shades - blue, purple and teal. All are dark, jewel tones too which I love. I don't use the coloured versions nearly as much, but I have tested them before and they're just as good as their inky black counterpart.

What's your favourite drugstore eyeliner? Have you tried this gem by Collection? Remember to check out Grace's post here!
